Palm Island . Palm Island is the center piece of the Gulf Islands. Again, bordered by the Gulf of Mexico in the western side, Lemon Bay and the Intra-coastal Waterway on the eastern side, this island offers wide range of tropical settings. Proceeding South, the next 2 and ½ miles of the island is known as Palm Island Estates and Kettle Harbor. This area is comprised mostly of privately owned single-family homes and cottages both on the bayside and on the beachfront. Currently, prices range from $350,000 for a vacant parcel of land to over $2,000,000 beautiful gulf to bay estate. Condominiums start in the low $400,000s. There are no high-rises due to the 38’ Charlotte County height restriction. Everything on this island is designed to blend into a natural, serene, tropical background. Palm Island Estates and Palm Island Resort are fully accessible by way of Palm Island Transit Car Ferry, water taxi or your own private boat. Transportation Tariffs are assessed to owners and visitors alike upon embarkation of the car ferry on the mainland side. Palm Island maintains its own fire and rescue station on the island. Central Water is available throughout the island. Roads are both paved and unpaved.

Don Pedro Island Don Pedro Island is comprised mostly of a State Park Preserve area. Slightly difficult to access, it represents one of Old Florida’s best kept treasures. To get here, you must have your own boat and then finding a place to dock it is also a challenge. Eventually the State may build a public docking facility. One day in the not too distant future, the State Park Officials hope to also provide a ferry service for visitors which will launch from the mainland side of Don Pedro State park located on State Road 775 in Cape Haze. Until then Don Pedro will remain a largely deserted Gulf-front sanctuary for native habitat, flora and fauna and eco-tourists. The park is home each spring and summer to hundreds of green sea and loggerhead turtles for nesting and hatching their young.
